Analyzing Ionospheric effects on WWV timing signals Shad Nygren Datron World Communications The 5ms 1KHz tone burst transmitted by WWV each second is received and compared to a local 1PPS signal accurately synchronized to UTC via CDMA & GPS. The WWV signal is simultaneously transmitted and received on multiple bands. Correlation and other statistical analysis is performed in order to better understand the effects of the ionosphere on HF signals and to provide a basis for developing improved models of the ionosphere in the future.
