PAPER GUIDELINES: IES2008
General
Authors are referred to previous issues of IES proceedings to get an idea of the format expected. There is some latitude provided. However, we shall provide a few specific guidelines in the section.
Reproduction
Authors are requested to prepare electronic (soft-copy) versions of their papers. This will also serve as the basis for the final document of record, made available to registrants (in hardbound form) following the conference. We anticipate the production of a CD-ROM version as well. The final document will also be made available to the public through the NTIA, Springfield.
Transmittal
Electronic transmission is strongly preferred, although not a strict requirement. Please send your soft-copy manuscript to both jm_good@cox.net and IES2008@jmg-associates-ltd.com by 01 April 2008. If additional time is required, please notify us as soon as possible. However 15 April 2008 is the final deadline. We cannot guarantee that the final manuscript will be compiled in the Preprint document if your manuscript is late. As indicated elsewhere, we can handle most document formats, but we prefer PDF or MS-Word.
If you cannot submit the manuscript electronically, and must use mail or courier, please mail early enough to ensure receipt by April 15, 2008. Even so, we still require that such transmission include a soft copy (i.e., floppy or CD-ROM) version of the paper. Send to the following address:

Format
We are hoping to make the document as uniform as possible, so we are suggesting a few rules to guide you. (But we are fairly easy. Just be sure the presentation is easy on the eyes!) New Times Roman 12 is the preferred style and size of lettering. Adhere to this as closely as possible. The text should be single-spaced. Please do not use small fonts (i.e. < 10) to conform to the page limitations, as this may distract from the overall appearance making it more difficult to read. A font size of 10 is OK but not preferred. Please paginate using the "Insert", "Page Numbers", "Bottom of Page (Footer)", and "Center" options. (We will be modifying this for the document).
Layout
Authors should prepare manuscripts on Standard 8.5"x 11" paper (not A4 please). The following margins should be adhered to:
Top: 0.5"
Bottom: 0.75"
Left: 1.0"
Right: 0.75"
Typing area: 6.75" x 9.75"
Front Page
Put title of paper in Boldface, centered, and in Times-Roman 14. Follow the title with authors and affiliations in Times-Roman 12 (no boldface). While affiliations are mandatory and addresses are optional, phone numbers are not desired. Leave a blank line before beginning the first line of manuscript. Leave a space between major sections, but do not leave spaces between paragraphs. Mark each new paragraph by indenting the first line.
Artwork and Line Drawings
Please develop clear drawings and artwork. These must be embedded in the electronic version of the manuscript. Place captions near the artwork. For the preprint, we will have no capability to photocopy in color, so please provide black and white representations of graphics. We will have some capability to support color in the final document, so authors may have an opportunity to resubmit color versions later on.
Page Length
The length of the manuscript is limited to 8 pages without incurring page charges. It would be appreciated if the paper end on an even page, if possible. This will allow each individual paper to start on the RHS of the proceedings document. This is not a requirement, however. Figures are to be included in the page limitation. In no instance will a paper exceeding 12 pages be accepted. A nominal page charge will be levied for pages exceeding 8. (i.e., $50/page).
Publication Release
All manuscripts must be released for publication in the public domain, unlimited distribution. Appropriate forms will be posted on this site.
Note: When submitting the manuscript, please clearly identify the primary author to whom questions may be addressed. Provide mailing address, email, and phone numbers.
